Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The infrared VCSEL scan mode captures feature-rich parts quickly without needing target markers, and it's available in both FreeScan Combo Wireless and FreeScan Combo+ Wireless.
VPG is SHINING 3D's built-in photogrammetry technology. It continuously optimizes the spatial position of reference markers while you scan, which minimizes cumulative error over long distances. Use it when scanning large-scale components where you need reliable, consistent accuracy across the whole part, not just locally.
Accuracy is up to 0.02 mm on both FreeScan Combo Wireless and FreeScan Combo+ Wireless. Volumetric accuracy is 0.02 mm + 0.03 mm/m standard, improving to 0.02 mm + 0.015 mm/m when using VPG.
FreeScan Combo Wireless has 50 high-speed laser lines and scans up to 7,344,000 points/s. FreeScan Combo+ Wireless steps up to 93 laser lines and up to 9,106,000 points/s. Both share the same accuracy, dimensions, weight, and battery life; the difference is speed and the GPU needed to keep up with it.
Same hybrid light source and metrology-grade accuracy, but the wireless versions add Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, built-in VPG for large-part accuracy, and a lighter 550 g body (versus 620 g wired). The tradeoff is the wired series is the more affordable, tethered option without VPG.
Yes. It's positioned for inspection, quality control, and reverse engineering work across automotive, heavy industry, transportation, and energy sectors.
